Green River New Capital is a series of green parks designed in the form of a river located in the heart of the Administrative Capital, and when it finished, it will stretch for 35 kilometers and cover around 6,200 acres, making it six times the size of New York’s Central Park.

It also includes a large artificial lake, whose water is treated by the stations, the Green River is scheduled to be the largest Central Park in the world, with 3 times the area of Hyde Park in London.

Furthermore, it contains a huge collection of rare trees and plants in the world, as well as the presence of two artificial lakes with huge areas, the first of 4 acres and the second of 25 acres.

The reason for naming the Green River

Green River Administrative Capital was named by this name because it was designed similar to the Nile River, which runs through Egypt from the north to the south, as well as the Green River, as it runs through the New Administrative Capital from its north to its south.

But the Nile River New Capital is fresh running water, while the Green River is a series of charming green gardens and artificial lakes in the form of a river.

The idea of establishing the Green River

As we mentioned previously, the concept of establishing the Green River is drawn from the Nile River in Egypt, where the Nile River passes through the center of Cairo and connects the city’s outskirts with various residential neighborhoods.

We also find that the Green River connects the north and south of the administrative capital, and on its side we find residential complexes and various services, passing through Central Iconic Tower New Capital.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly explained that the water sources of the artificial lakes located inside the Green River are treated from water purification stations, which confirms the process of water recycling and resource conservation, as the Green River water is treated 3 times and used in planting gardens and green spaces.

The first phase of the Green River

The first phase of the green river starts from the middle ring road to the regional ring road, and is divided from east to west into 3 homogeneous planning sectors, characterized by the magnificence and beauty of visual and urban design.

• The first sector (CP 01): is about 4 km, with an area of 375 acres of parks and open spaces, as it includes 250 acres of gardens and parks, in addition to a mosque, a large commercial area, and a restaurant area.
• While the second sector (CP 02): is approximately 3 kilometers, with an area of 306 acres, as it is the main center for recreational and cultural activities, and it contains 240 acres of green spaces, in addition to the presence of ball courts, a commercial area, health resorts, and many other projects.
• The third sector (CP 03): is about 4 km, with an area of 309 acres, and it is the link between the public parks and their surroundings, which is the central business district, it also includes 250 acres of gardens and parks.

The cost of the Green River New Capital

Green River Administrative Capital extends over an area of 35 km, connecting all the districts of the Administrative Capital, as the area of the first phase of the project is about 11 km, knowing that the Urban Communities Authority is responsible for financing the Green River.

The authority spent more than 2 billion pounds on the first phase of the project, and the final cost of the project is estimated to be around 9 billion pounds.
